The Second Newlands war appears to be at an end, with the Unbow/SHARK/VIC confederacy announcing its surrender and plans to exodus the Broken Lands. In a forum post on the official Illyriad forums, Unbow co-leader made the brief announcement:
Hello Illyriad general public,
I am one of the leaders of The Unbowed and I speak on behalf of them as well as SHARK and VIC. We have decided to surrender to SIN and meet their conditions to move out of BL. I would like to congratulate SIN on a well fought war. It was a lot of fun.Thank you,Spektor
The announcement was followed in turn by SIN Diplomat Jejune, responding:
On behalf of The Hashashin, we accept Unbow, SHARK, and VIC’s surrender and salute our opponents after a long, intense war.Spektor and myself have already been in contact for about a month hashing out the terms of a peace agreement, and I thank him for his patience and willingness to negotiate in good faith, which he did in every stage of the process. Now that terms have been reached, we will put in motion our plan to achieve a cease-fire in the very near term, and begin fulfillment of terms for peace.
Full terms for the cease-fire and peace have yet to be disclosed, but a Times source has claimed that in order to complete surrender talks, SIN dropped all gold requirements from the deal. Requests for comment from SIN officials by the Times via the forum messaging system were not immediately returned on the matter.
It would appear, however, that a withdrawal from the Broken Lands is a central element of the surrender and peace agreement.
The Second Newlands War began on November 5th, 2015 with SIN’s war declaration on SHARK. In its war declaration, SIN made the Newlands peninsula its strategic focus:
The Hashashin’s [SIN] war declaration is a direct, one-on-one strategic challenge to Dark Shade’s [SHARK] move into the Newlands. This is not a grievance. We seek to engage SHARK at times and places of our alliance’s choosing to halt their deliberate move into the Newlands, which we believe is designed to exert dominance over the BL continent.
By the 9th, Invictus, then SHARK’s confederate, joined the effort to defend Newlands. Over the course of the 7 months of fighting, there were 76 total documented siege operations by both alliances. At the end of January, after SIN offered a weekend of clemency to allow individual SHARK and VIC members to surrender, both alliances went on to form The Unbowed [Unbow], which was an effort to bring all of the active members of SHARK and VIC together. Looking at the strategic map, Unbow filled Newlands and High Hills with cities, but never managed to get its bearing in counter-sieging SIN. However, the formation of Unbow did appear to help unify the alliances’ ability to defend their cities in Newlands and High Hills, as SIN’s success rate in razing cities dropped beginning in January, with SIN razing 15 cities and failing 10 times. Prior to Unbow’s formation, SIN had 15 wins and only 4 losses — a nearly unstoppable streak.
Between the surrender and cease-fire period, SIN went on to complete a raze, with SIN officials informing of the following:

7. Touchwood, belonging to Ozrik which was located at 354|-2045 has been razed by Janadorf.
The NW2’s War Score Card will be retired to the “Concluded Wars” column and any additional sieges will no longer be counted. The history of the war will be updated there for future reference.

Congratulations to SIN for a war well played. Good luck to all combatants moving forward.
