New Illyriad Bonds Offer “Safer Alternative” To Stocks, Claims Fund Manager

GATE member Milliardo Peacecraft has launched a new Illyriad Bond as an alternative investment product to the burgeoning Aurum — a kind of mutual fund share of the Republic Investment Fund (RIF) that recently went public on the server. Peacecraft characterizes the Illyriad Bond as “a safer alternative” to products such as the Aurum, and has laid out the new bond program in an exclusive memo to the Times.

The new bond fund manager claims that Illyriad Bonds “will offer a more firm level of security. When your bond matures it pays you a specific amount of interest as opposed to holding a stock and hoping it will earn you money.” The bonds also offer no transaction fees, unless an investor looks to liquidate their bonds before a bond matures.

The following are details of how the bond fund works:

Investments will be refunded within 8 hours minus early withdrawal fee.

Any accounts that mature on time are immediately refunded to the account holder who may re-invest at any time.

All Bonds sold are locked in at the given interest rate. These interest rates will change over time and may become high or lower depending on market trends. But at the time of purchase your rate is locked in and guaranteed! Payments are processed immediately on maturity of the bond. All bonds receive a confirmation account number to reference your account.

The Times asked Peacecraft specifically about the security of the fund and how bonds are “guaranteed.” He explained that, “[t]he bonds will still be backed by market assets as unless the developers step in, which I highly doubt will ever happen. To minimize the risk to investors, I have put forward an account maximum of 25 million for the time being. This will be for first time investors only and after an account has reached maturity they may invest whatever they like.”

As for the how bond rates might fluctuate, Peacecraft noted that “The bond rates are calculated by the demand. Not performance. Where a stock will fluctuate up and down based on market trends. But for simplicity the rates will remain locked for at least the first 60 days. After that however I will updating the interest rate on bonds and possibly offering micro bonds every week.”

Fervor for enhanced trade- and finance-based metagaming is leading to a wellspring of new trade initiatives, including trading consortiums and investment products. While the ideas are indeed novel, Peacecraft also believes that products and services based on market performance could indeed be risky for investors, since market prices are known to swing wildly based on in-game events. “The Illy market is very unstable these days,” said Peacecraft. “The large amount of wars recently has plunged the prestige market and caused T3 resources to be hoarded. While I applaud the Illy stock market for its growth and the new flavor to the game What goes up must come down! If a stock is forced to hold its resources hoping for the price to come back then its not living up to its purpose because its generating no profit. Bonds use real investments to generate real profits. Our returns are solid. At the end of the day you know how much your going to make. Could you miss out on a big return? Certainly! But you can also miss out on that devastating loss.”

Anyone interested in Illyriad Bonds should send Milliardo Peacecraft a DM with purchase options.

  1. Ptolemy these are just the opening rates. They are designed to give the maximum return while also keeping everyone comfortable. A lot of players stick this gold in the hubs and never use it. So its just sitting. I will however be offering shorter terms in the near future as a micro bond feature. I also plan to make the interest rates more dynamic and appealing.
