Aga Prevails in Heated YARR Siege, Stopping Force “At The Gates”

Screen Shot 2015-10-14 at 9.49.20 amTUF has stopped the advance of a major YARR siege operation against Agalloch in the Pawanallpan desert in what appears to have been a riveting battle. TUF officials shared details of the final battle for Agalloch’s city of The Mark of Beast, which was apparently decided at the gates of the city. The siege camps reduced the city to raze population and then “attempted a storm and raze and failed at the gates.”

The storm force was that of Muad’Dib’s siege camp, which was the second one on the scene. Previously, TUF officials shared details of a break on the first siege that landed on the city, which was spearheaded by Curmudgeon. According to TUF, that first siege was broken on 09 May 2016 11:05 by smash’s forces.

A Times source familiar with the battle noted that there was heavy fighting with large hits on both the siege camp and city, and that there were large amounts of reinforcements in the city that large YARR cavalry hits were unable to fully break ahead of the storm.

Immediately after the end of the battle, it was discussed between both YARR and TUF combatants: Continue reading

Agalloch in the Crosshairs As YARR Targets TUF Leader in Pawanallpa

Screen Shot 2015-07-10 at 7.27.01 PMSieges continue to set up throughout the server in the increasingly explosive YARR/TUF war, this time involving TUF leader Agalloch. A new post in the Herald’s siege section shows that YARR firebrand Curmudgeon is targeting Aga in the deserts of Pawanallpa — the region purportedly at the epicenter of the war:

Agalloch [TUF] .The Number of the Beast [779|-1670] in Pawanallpa Curmudgeon [YARR!] Sun 08 May 16:07

The siege and blockade are set up on plains, however, it is possible that the YARR units involved could be using desert colleges to optimize for that particular biome (a tactic that TUF can be employing on defense as well.)

Agalloch is purported to have the largest standing armies in TUF, and the ability to reproduce troops faster than most others in his ranks.

The Pirate Republic Declares War on The Unfettered While Dlord/TUF-Tuna Rages On

Screen Shot 2016-05-04 at 8.40.36 am
YARR! in green; TUF in red

In a surprise move yesterday evening, The Pirate Republic [YARR!] declared war on The Unfettered [TUF], citing long-standing grievances that center around the alliances’ cohabitation in the Broken Lands desert region of Pawanallpa. In a forum post, YARR! Leader Ranalos began his commentary by stating that he “could give a dozen reasons” for declaring war on TUF, but went to note that “in the 6 months of YARR! nearly every time we’ve been expecting hostile action, it was TUF on the other side,” suggesting an inevitability to the war and a preemptive approach to dealing with the BL military alliance — a casus belli not dissimilar that that of Dlords’ war against TUF-Tuna.

Regionally speaking, Pawanallpa could likely be the epicenter of the war, with Ranalos remarking that “Having an LC alliance and an anti-LC alliance sharing Pawa just isn’t working.” YARR’s presence in Pawanallpa is largely the result of the The Pirate Republic subsuming the old Deathmongers [Death] alliance, which was positioned in that desert region. “The history between Death and Tuf was not able to be erased with a new ticker and new leadership,” Ranalos continued. “There are large personalities on both sides of this, and every time there is conflict we have people on both sides threatening or calling for war.”

TUF was quick to lash out in response to the declaration. While TUF leader Agalloch and Karl Aegis offered terse responses, ajqtrz was more accusatory in his tone, challenging Ranalos’ assertions in his war declaration: “What, exactly, is meant by “isn’t working?” when you speak of both sides being in Pawa?  Have there been skirmishes?  Have TUF members been sending diplos at Yarr members in Pawa?  Are we harvesting where where you don’t wish us to do so?  What, exactly, isn’t working? . . .  You say you could give a dozen reasons but that everyone has been resolved.  Isn’t that the definition of “getting along?” ” he asked, concluding with a call to negotiate an end to the conflict: “So let’s be a bit rational here and you give me your evidence and I’ll present mine, lest we enter into a war needlessly.”

TUF’s Mexican Dwarf called out YARR for essentially “dog-piling” on TUF while it is still in the midst of a war, suggesting collusion between YARR and Dlord: “Wow, you declare while we are in the middle of another war? Did you set Dlord up to this? (Probably).” Mexican Dwarf, however, agreed in part with the inevitability of the war, continuing: “And tbh war was inevitable between us, but illy politics seems that an alliance needs a reason to declare, and they can’t just have a war without a reason. I feel that needs to change but declaring on an alliance currently involved in a war is just being a dick.”

Dlords Break TUF Siege in 8 Hours, Claim That “Aga Has Lost About 1 Million Troops”

The Dlords have executed a decisive siege break in Elgea in a short number of hours, claiming that the operation cost TUF leader Agalloch close to 1 million in troop losses. Both Dlords and TUF officials provided details on the siege, which was on Dlords’ Bargnothaltros’ city of Orc Prison Probationer, as well as the siege break.

TUF officials note that a blockade arrived at 07 Apr 2016 22:24 in the large forest southeast of the city, which was broken by Bargnothaltros just a few hours later. The siege on Orc Prison Probationer was broken by Dlords’ Skybreaker on 08 Apr 2016 12:44, and the entire operation was purportedly hit hard by “intense stalwart resistance from the start.”

Dlords reports more or less corroborated the TUF report, with Dlord leader Belegar Ironhammer noting that “the siege lasted for 8 hours. The blockade lasted 4 hours.”

Bowmen hate it – and even cavalry units have difficulty moving purposefully to attack forested terrain. This is, however, the natural provenance of the footsoldier who excels.

Suffering the same problems as attackers, defending cavalry and ranged units intensely dislike fighting in forested lands. Like the attackers, however, the extra cover and confined spaces is favourite amongst defending swordsmen.

The disagreement over the battle appears to be in Dlords’ claim that, “In the last 12 days Aga has lost about 1 million troops.” Later in GC, Dlords’ Smoking GNU and TUF’s Agalloch and recent city destroyer ajqtrz sparred over the issue:

[13:37]<Smoking GNU> we just killed about a mill troops this morning from someone trying to siege a city in our homeland
[13:39]<Agalloch> a mil?
[13:39]<Agalloch> you overestimate
[13:39]<Agalloch> i dint send 50% of my forces i send less
[13:39]<Agalloch> so put on your seat belt this ride just started
[13:39]<ajqtrz> well, I’d be rather afraid of anybody who had a million troops and could just send them willy-nilly at your homeland….one has to wonder what else they have…and be very, very afraid….LOL

[13:40]<Agalloch> we dont bully, we bury em instead
[13:40]<Lord_Johnny> hey GNU
[13:40]<ajqtrz> Observations, Cormoran, just an observation.

For Dlords, this was a key siege break, revealing the alliance’s ability to fiercely defend cities in its tightly-clustered homeland. The decisive siege break may reveal how difficult it may prove to be for TUF to raze cities aside from the opportunistic few that exist in the Broken Lands.

Dwarven Lords Declare War on TUF; Silversteel Mines at Center of Dispute

Screen Shot 2015-07-19 at 10.05.04 AMA new war has erupted between two major Illyriad alliances, pitting the predominantly Elgean Dwarven Lords [Dlord] against Agalloch’s Unfettered [TUF]. The war, which was sparked by a Dlords declaration, appears to center on disputed silversteel mines.

In a statement to the Times, Dlords leader Belegar Ironhammer did not mince words, saying, “This is a preemptive strike to protect our mines from future attacks planned by TUF and in retaliation for TUF attacks on Dlord sieges in the Broken Lands on non-TUF players.”

The Times also received an official statement from TUF concerning the war:
This war has been expected since Dlords has been diploing members of TUF for about months without any aggressive moves by TUF. The only thing done was an assisted siege break of a Dlords siege several weeks ago, as we feel it isn’t right for a player to be punished in game for a certain view on the forums.
We hope this war is enjoyable, best of luck to Dlords.
Dlords have worked quickly to engage TUF, setting up a siege right at the onset of the war on Agalloch’s alt Elfs Bane. The city of “..Grew a Pair?” was swarmed on by the Dlords and sieged by Belegar Ironhammer, who later confirmed to the Times that the city had indeed been razed:
..Grew a Pair?, belonging to Elfs Bane which was located at 645|-539 has been razed by Belegar Ironhammer.
This war has the earmarks of being a serious, potentially protracted conflict. Should siege operations continue, the Times will publish a War Score Card for the war and track sieges and siege breaks.

Going it Alone: Dsasa Declares All DRIFT Members Noncombatants Except Himself

Screen Shot 2015-07-22 at 10.11.02 AMThe conflict between DRIFT and YARR!/RE appears to have reached the beginning of the end, with DRIFT leader Dsasa deeming all of the remaining 5 members of his fledgling alliance noncombatants. This essentially leaves only Dsasa to fight the full ranks of YARR! and RE, who have already razed one of his cities in early fighting.

The early onset of the war, which was marked by Dsasa’s founding of DRIFT and subsequent war declarations, showed promise of blossoming into a true Broken Lands war, assuming that he would have been able to garner support for his cause and flush his ranks with war-ready accounts. Other murmurings mused that perhaps rising BL warlord Agalloch might lend support to DRIFT’s efforts either with TUF or Tuna, all in an effort to use this war as a proxy for challenging YARR!’s accelerated rise as a powerbroker in the Broken Lands.

None of this has come to pass, however, with the DRIFT/YARR!-RE conflict quickly playing itself into a predictable endgame.

The anti-climatic rise and fall of DRIFT is yet another example of the server’s failed use of temporary, place-holder alliances to conduct proxy wars in place of using the alliance brands that players typically support. Over the past 9 months, STOMP, Tuna, Unbow, and now DRIFT have all been established in varying attempts to both bring volunteers together under one banner and keep the stigma of war from affecting parent alliances. To this point, however, the use of these alliances has been largely unsuccessful, with none of these alliances having proven effective in winning a war.

Based on the arc of this current conflict, DRIFT appears to be on its way towards the same oblivion as similar alliances before it.

EXCLUSIVE: IGM Reveals TUF/Tuna Plans To Support Unbow in War, Break SIN Sieges

BL military alliance TUF plans to support the Unbow/SHARK/VIC confederacy in their war against SIN in the form of siege breaking and resources, the Times has learned. In exclusive IGMs sent alliance-wide to TUF members obtained by the Times from a tipster, TUF leader and burgeoning Broken Lands warlord Agalloch outlined his short- and medium- term plans to bolster the confederacy that he supported earlier in the war with his Elfs Bane account, but eventually departed from, going on to fight a brief but victorious war against Death.

Agalloch’s first IGM reads as follows:

In one week I am going to anounce that TUF is prepared to offer military aid to The Unbowed/Shark?Vic in 3 months time, till then we promist to assist with free basic resources when asked upon even to a city currently enter siege, also we will promise our allies military aid  on requests for aid in breaking sieges on inactive players if asked upon within 12 hours when provided with proof of inactivity.Any players that disaprove of my desicion are asked to leave immediattly.

Lets F**k em All!!!

Agalloch’s timeline for aid to the confederacy is unclear, since the announcement he plans to make in a week at first says that TUF will only begin to offer military aid “in 3 months time,” but then notes that, “till then,” TUF will run basic resources to besieged cities, as well as “military aid  on requests for aid in breaking sieges on inactive players.”

The intel appears to be in line with counter-claims that SIN recently made in comments that neutral caravans were caught sending resources to help Unbow’s DiabolicallyDLicious prestige build through a siege in the wake of complaints made by Unbow leader BayNights that neutral vans were caught going into Deimo cities during their sieges. “To Further the Hypocrisy of the Unibrowed, Sin has just caught Yellow vans in a blockade and we also screenshotted it as well,” said SIN’s He-Man in comments, posting this photo:

It is unknown if the vans in question were from TUF.

In subsequent IGMs, Agalloch at first indicates that he intends to use TUNA as a shelter alliance for TUF members who are uninterested in joining the war effort:

People that feel they need to move ask me for invites over to TUNA.

Thanks all we have lots of work ahead of us but we will win. I send this out to a few friends and have recieved support both by people joining us but providing us with gold presitge and equipment to fight and win as part of a team!!!

GO TUF!!    GO iMPs!!

The IGM also indicates that Agalloch is working with other alliances who plan to provide TUF with support to fund their war effort, and are building what may be a concerted effort to build a large-scale coalition to engage SIN — referred to as some in Illyriad as a “dog pile.”

A chain of IGMs in TUF eventually leads Agalloch to alter his plans to use Tuna as the military arm of supporting the Unbow confederacy, presumably due to the fact that a state of war already exists between Tuna and SIN:

I would like all member interested in joining TUNA for the upcoming festivities to reply to this email with a yes or no

accompannied by either a detailed igm reply with current troop numbers with a total of all towns or a creenshot in illytools. The troop count is important even for those saying no cause we will still need troops to guard the mine so dont feel that you will not be contributing to our alliances coming adventures. Victory will depend on all members doing their parts regardless of troop counts or population.

FOR A FREE ILLY!!

GO TUF!!!

These revealing IGMs come just after BayNights described to the Times a situation where he believes SIN is receiving “a lot of outside help in the war.” The addition of TUF/Tuna to the current war would set SIN against 5 alliance banners, plus numerous members of ABSA as well as GEMS and DiL, who have permitted their members to join the war on Unbow’s side.

SIN was reached for comment but did not immediately respond to these developments.

Agalloch Continues To Shine, Racks Up Second Raze

Screen Shot 2015-12-05 at 10.42.58 amIn spite of doing the lion’s share of sieging and siege breaking, Tuna leader and TUF co-founder Agalloch continues to have the troops and tactics to succeed in the Death/TUF-Tuna war. Today, Tuna confirmed that Agalloch racked up his second siege against Death, taking down Kratos’ city of Xanthia. Agalloch provided the battle report of the storm force:

Cavalry comes into its own when able to strike hostile forces at will, and from unexpected directions – and nowhere is this more feasible than on open plains. Lightly armoured spear units, however, prefer terrain where there’s some cover available.

Fighting defensively on open plains, cavalry draws strength from the ability to form and reform their lines of engagement depending on the direction of battle, and it is here where cavalry excels.

The successful siege is the second for Agalloch in the war, and only the second siege overall between both combatants. This was also the second time Kratos’ city of Xanthia was sieged. Curmudgeon broke the first siege on xanthia on January 24, 2016. That effort was for naught, as now the city is destroyed.

Kratos Under Siege By Agalloch Again as Xanthia Targeted For Second Time

Screen Shot 2015-07-10 at 7.27.01 PMMore doubling down on siege targets continue in the Death/TUF-Tuna war as Agalloch is once again leading the TUF-Tuna coalition against Kratos’ city of Xanthia. The Herald is reporting on the touch-down of the recent siege:

Kratos [Death] Xanthia [885|-1629] in Pawanallpa Agalloch [Tuna] Wed 27 Jan 23:59

The city of Xanthia is a prime target for sieging as it is positions amid a pyramid to its north and a monastery to its southwest — two building structures that avoid spectacular coverage for defense. Agalloch currently has both a siege and blockade on both squares.

This is not the first time Xanthia has been sieged in the brief but explosive war. According to the war’s Score Card, Death’s Curmudgeon broke the first siege of Kratos’ city of xanthia on January 24, 2016 — just four days ago.

Agalloch has been the primary combatant for the TUF-Tuna coalition so far, breaking an astounding 5 Death sieges and razing the only successful siege in the war thus far.

Agalloch on Fire! Head Tuna Siege Breaks 5th Death Siege

Screen Shot 2015-07-20 at 10.32.40 AMTuna leader and TUF co-founder Agalloch has served as a one-man wrecking crew against Death’s siege attempts, racking up his fifth siege break in a war that is only six days old. News of the most recent siege break came by way of an eyewitness who noted the break around 8:15 am server time this morning. Later on, Agalloch himself took credit for the siege break in comments on the Times: “Make that 5 siege on Mega is dead.”

The broken siege of Megadeth is actually the second one, the first having been initiated by Death member Muad’Duab and also broken by Agalloch on January 23, 2016.

So far, the Death/TUF-Tuna war has been marked by multiple sieges and siege breaks on the same towns. Death has already sieged Agalloch’s Megadeth and Gwen’s “going to stand my ground” twice.

This latest siege break brings TUF-Tuna to 6 siege breaks and 1 raze for a total of 8 points on the War Score Card. Death has 2 siege breaks and 0 razes for a total of 2 points.
