It was a busy night on Friday 13th, with both sides exchanging sieges until well into the morning of the next day.

The three sieges lie on Large Hill, Plains, and Buildings from top to bottom, and the blockade is on a small hill. As a dwarf, OleBlacklord will get huge bonuses with the buildings siege, as dwarven infantry is the best and buildings are good for defending.

SHARK Razes 2, Breaks 1; TVM Breaks 2 as Newlands War Rages On

SHARK has managed to successfully raze two of its four sieges against TVM and break another in the ongoing Newlands War, with TVM managing to break two sieges in return. SHARK leadership provided the Times with updates on all of the resolved and still-ongoing sieges, with co-leader Halcyon indicating that while their sieges on Phelony’s Hard Knox and Lorcan’s Kilkenny (two sieges that the Times missed in its reporting) were both broken, the leading Illyriad alliance did successfully raze El Guapo’s Cudillero and mccannj’s Golan Heights:

The Times doesn’t have any details about the degree of fighting at these sieges, however, SHARK clearly made quick work of bringing these two cities down, considering that the Golan Heights siege begun at Wed 21 Oct 12:00, and the Cudillero siege began on Tue 20 Oct 11:48.

In addition to these successful sieges, SHARK also managed to break TVM’s sole siege on them in the region. Halcyon also indicated that the siege on Allyssar’s DiamondIsle, which was being mounted byvgsrhhheth of RE, was also broken, though added that “more attacks and most probably a 2nd siege are inbound.”

The siege on GrrlyOrc’s Bondage Barracks appears to still be ongoing, with both a SHARK siege and blockade in place. The same is true for the dual SHARK siege on Lord Moonpie’s city of Borax.

Thus far, SHARK has once again proven its versatility in successfully fighting in a region where they are otherwise outmatched in terms of cities and potential troop sovereignty, using a mix of local troops and late-breaking hits from Elgea as an impressive one-two punch that TVM has not been able to answer. The War Score Card shows SHARK with a dominating lead, registering more siege breaks (5 to 4) than TVM, who have the predominant city placement in Newlands and Oarnamly. SHARK also has 6 raze/capture victories to DSD south’s 1, which came as a result of an isolated siege in Aindara. SHARK has also managed to spread their 6 successful sieges among 6 separate players, revealing that their enclave in Newlands, while still relatively small, is burgeoning, establishing them as a formidable fighting force in the BL.

T-SC Attacks, Claims Two Silversteel Mines in Calumnex From SHARK

So far in the Newlands War, the stakes have been high, with 16 total sieges — 5 of which were initiated just today. However, T-SC has mounted two unique assaults on SHARK assets in the Broken Lands, scoring victories over the top-ranked alliance’s Silversteel assets in Calumnex.

T-SC officials sent the Times two combat reports that confirm that the alliance attacked and defeated occupying forces on two silversteel mines near The Tower (home to the aggressive Omen faction) in the heart of Calumnex. The first hit took place on a mine to the southeast of the tower on October 13th. All troop details have been redacted:

The Times will monitor these sieges, but also asks TVM and SHARK to cooperate with us in helping report the most accurate stories of siege outcomes of all of these battles.

 

[UPDATED] SHARK Breaks RE Siege in Northmarch

Based on two reports from Shark members, the Times is revising this story and removing the siege break from the Newlands War Score Card, as the siege itself was essentially a fake.

A comment from Josh on October 15th indicated, “Sorry mate, this one was yet another 1cat army, broken by the town under siege. Doesn’t count as a point.” SHARK co-leader Halcyon echoed this sentiment in a message to the Times: “As far as I know, Allyssar broke the siege by himself in 1 attack. It was nothing serious.” We thank SHARK for the correction.

Top-ranked alliance SHARK continues to dominate the Newlands war, out-sieging and out-defending the three coalition DSD forces in the Broken Lands. On October 13th, SHARK registered two major razes in Newlands and Oarnamly — ground zero for the Newlands War — and has also managed to siege break an RE siege against SHARK’s Allyssar’s city of AmberInlet in Northmarch.

News of the siege break was hinted at via a comment from Kayteen and later confirmed by the Times from SHARK leader Halcyon.

The War Score Card now shows SHARK ahead 7 to 1 in scoring against the DSD south alliances. While the scoring system is unofficial and admittedly imperfect, the Times editors feel that overall the current score is representative of SHARK’s early dominance in the Newlands War.

Note: The Times has reached out to Shark leaders on who broke this siege, but has yet to hear back. We will update the story accordingly.

Gothos has all his cities located in Westmarch, a neighboring region to Northmarch. The siege is located on a plains square, making it vulnerable to heavy cavalry strikes. Currently there is no blockade enforced on the city, which stands at a population of 11,183.
