SIN Takes Down 3 of 4 Unbow/SHARK/VIC Cities in Recent Op; New Unbow, SIN Ops Land

Screen Shot 2015-10-19 at 10.07.37 pmSIN’s extended incursion into northern Newlands has netted them three more successful sieges, with the fourth bring broken by Unbow.

The operation, which begun with the touchdown of four sieges simultaneously across the Newlands peninsula, appeared to begin with a quick break of the siege on Elanderrich’s city of 01. Deloviana. Senior Illyriad Times pundit Zebraphile commented on the 24th, “The siege on 01. Deloviana has been broken. Now renamed Limp Sword’s Epic Fail,'” with Elanderrich renaming his city to troll Silent Sword, who initiated that siege. However, in spite of this loss, Silent Sword went to raze his two other sieges, along with a capture by Jejune. In the case of Silent Sword’s razes, while no activity was seen or reported around the Worker siege, there appeared to be fierce fighting at Valdoras’ city of Yavin 4.

SIN officials provided confirmations of the operations:

In addition, Zebraphile also called attention to a new round of sieges launched by Unbow and SIN:

“There are new sieges.

Wright [VIC] Garden Springs [264|-2246] in Newlands Snellman [SIN] Thu 24 Mar 05:14

Garden Springs has a population of only 319.

Goldy1 [SIN] 4 Deerfield [136|-2148] in Newlands Halcyon [Unbow] Thu 24 Mar 10:04

This town has been under siege before. One interesting thing to note is that Unbow have claimed sovereignty on a pair of squares close by which, if occupied by towns would form an unsiegeable pair. I presume the claiming of sovereignty allows exodus to occur within 10 squares of 4 Deerfield.

There are at least two other such pairs of unoccupied squares surrounded by impassable terrain. If they were to be occupied it would seem to represent a determination by both sides in the conflict to dig in for the long haul.”

The Times concurs with Zebraphile on the assessment, as it appears that an Unbow effort is underway to place cities in close-by unsiegeable squares in order to engage 4 Deerfield. The Herald is reporting details of both sieges:

Goldy1 [SIN] 4 Deerfield [136|-2148] in Newlands Halcyon [Unbow] Thu 24 Mar 10:04
Wright [VIC] Garden Springs [264|-2246] in Newlands Snellman [SIN] Thu 24 Mar 05:14

Indeed, the city of 4 Deerfield — or more precisely, the land that that city sits on — is by the far the most sieged plot of land in NW2. Prior to Goldy1 occupying it, the land was occupied by Stukahh, who was repeatedly sieged there. The siege operation is incredibly tricky, since there is only one square to siege from, which is on plains. This affords immense bonuses for attacking cavalry. In addition, no simultaneous blockade can be put on the city, meaning that Goldy1 can build through the siege and buy time for additional cavalry hits. Unbow/SHARK/VIC have targeted this land with almost the same steadfastness as their engagement of He-Man in Kul-Tar, which led to an immense loss of troops on both sides of the early war.

SIN’s OleBlacklord Razes 5th City; Dsasa Still Kicking With New Siege on Botch [UPDATED]

Screen Shot 2015-11-07 at 1.02.16 pmNew headlines for the current Broken Lands conflicts and war crisscrossed in a busy afternoon on the server, as SIN forces racked up another siege victory in Newlands while DRIFT’s Dsasa established a new siege on YARR!’s Princess Botchface.

News of the fresh razing in the Second Newlands War came from SIN officials, who provided the siege report:

From: System
Subject: FW: Orchard Mills razed!
Received: 10 Mar 2016 16:17
Original Message:
Orchard Mills, belonging to Coltman which was located at 113|-2208 has been razed by OleBlacklord.

For OleBlacklord, it is his fifth successful siege in NW2, and for VIC, it is the eighth lost city to SIN sieges. Compared to other sieges in the war, this one appeared to be largely uncontested, as the Times and its correspondents never witnessed even one unit hit the siege camp or enter the city. The city was likely capitulated due to either an inactive Coltman and/or highly unfavorable terrain.

Just south of the Newlands in Almenly, DRIFT desperado Dsasa continued his one-man campaign against both YARR! and Roman Empire, establishing a new siege on YARR!’s Princess Botchface. News of the siege flashed across GC earlier:

[16:39]<System> ** News Flash: Princess Botchface’s [YARR!] large town of Xiao Pei is now under siege by Dsasa’s [Drift] sprawling city of Diviniti

. . . and was subsequently posted in the Herald:

Princess Botchface [YARR!] Jianye [-191|-2582] in Almenly Dsasa [Drift] Thu 10 Mar 10:29

Similar to Dsasa’s first lost city in the conflict, Botch’s besieged city offers plenty of favorable sieging terrain, including large and small hills. That being said, the city is within reach of both RE forces in the eastern section of Westmarch as well as the Pirate Isles, suggesting that the YARR!/RE consortium should be able to break the siege in time.

[UPDATED — 10:10 pm ST] A second DRIFT siege has also set up today — this one against an RE city in The Long White:

[21:55]<System> ** News Flash: ‘s [RE] large city of lonesome is now under siege by Dsasa’s [Drift] sprawling city of Malanorai

SIN Establishes New Siege in Newlands on VIC’s Coltman; SHARK Dodges

Screen Shot 2015-12-05 at 10.42.58 amThere is military activity on the Newlands peninsula this morning, as a new SIN siege has set up on a soft target in the Newlands. The Herald is reporting a new SIN siege on VIC’s Coltman:

Coltman [VIC] Orchard Mills [112|-2209] in Newlands OleBlacklord [SIN] Wed 09 Mar 09:00

Though the city of Orchard Mills boasts a population of over 12,000, the city is bookended by poor terrain. The siege, which is being mounted by SIN siege veteran and dwarf OleBlacklord, is taking advantage of an ancient forest to the southwest of the city, which affords a large forest terrain for what is likely an infantry-laden siege camp. The city also has both small and large hills to its north.

This new siege appears to be part of what could be a larger op for SIN that is unfolding in the Newlands. Earlier, Jejune claimed in comments that “Unbow just exodused away from one of our sieges this morning,” posting a report of the exodus:

Target town South Shore has exodused!

Received By: Jejune [SIN]

Jejune is incorrect in naming .Mordred. as an Unbow player, as that account is currently still in SHARK. However, it is believed that .Mordred. is BayNights’ alt account.

Consulting Digioso’s DillyTools, The Times noted that as of this morning, Mordred’s city of South Shore with a population of 10,884 was still showing as being located in 94|-2228. At present, however, there is no longer a city there, confirming the exodus.

The exodus is bound to spark conversation, as Unbow leader BayNights noted in previous comments about SIN’s Deimo exodusing away from an Unbow siege that “internally we consider this a win as the city loses pop and sov.”
