SIN Picks Fight With EE as TUF War Slogs On

Screen Shot 2015-10-21 at 10.41.59 pmSIN has brazenly declared war on another alliance while continuing its slow war with TUF. According to a report from the Illyriad Telegraph, the war declaration came as a result of an altercation between EE’s Sterling and several SIN members, including Stukahh. It is unknown if there were any underlying pretexts to the war declaration aside from the altercation.

Skirmishes have already been reported between SIN and EE cities, due in large part to both alliances being in close proximity to one another.

The addition of EE poses a potential liability to SIN, particularly if TUF and EE agree to work together in the war. According to the TUF diplomacy page, a NAP has been offered to EE, which is currently pending. If Agalloch can manage to secure a partnership, EE could be in a position to launch sieges at SIN from close range, with long-range reinforcements going largely unnoticed.

SIN’s decision to declare war continues a recent trend that has further isolated the military alliance in its battle with TUF. Earlier in the month, both YARR and RE relented in their aggression toward TUF, leaving SIN as their sole adversary. Now, SIN will need to divide its focus against medium-range sieges against TUF while also guarding again close-in strikes from EE.

‘Impossible’ Siege Broken

Meanwhile, SIN has managed to break free of a dubious siege on one of its cities in Calumnex that otherwise appeared to be “unsiegable.” The Times reported earlier on a series of siege camps that landed on Durbag Snubub’s city of Steel Panther in Calumnex. With the exception of a plains square to the northeast — which would be a dangerous square to siege from — all remaining squares were deemed impassible. However, TUF managed to land a series of sieges on the city.

Various readers have indicated that the ability to both land sieges/blockades as well as launch armies to destroy them is doable, but cannot be executed from the map page. It remains to be seen if this would be characterized as an “exploit” of a game bug, or “working as intended.”

Finally, however, SIN reportedly managed to shake free of the sieges. Snubub has since exodused the city, which is currently being blockaded by TUF. The city is now surrounded by plains.

[UPDATED] CleopatraMurk Leaves Stomps Amid Death Siege, Multiple Blockades

[See bottom for updates….]

One of the early recruits for Stomp has left the alliance, following a surprise siege by the Deathmongers.

As reported by the Times, an unexpected siege set up on CleopatraMurk’s city of Pampas in the region of Pawanallpa, inside Death’s land claim. Less than 24 hours later, the Cleo account has left Stomp, ostensibly returning to her original alliance of the EAGLES EYRIE [EE].

At closer look, the Times noted more than just the Death siege that may have exerted enough pressure on Cleo for her to consider leaving the land claims-crushing alliance. The city of Sauna has what looks to be an occupying army just to the south of it, while Tanning Salon has a blockade in place. It would appear that these three military operations may have been the impetus for CleopatraMurk to depart Stomp.

Cleo joined Stomp on June 16th, just 8 days after Pico founded the alliance and declared war on T-SC over the alliance land claim issue in the Broken Lands. She was one of the first few accounts to join the cause.

[UPDATED 8:19 am server time] — overnight, Cleo added this statement to her profile: “I am out of the war and will not join STOMPS again until the war is over..”

[UPDATED 8:13 pm server time, July 3, 2015] — The Times previously reported that Death’s siege on CleopatraMurk’s city of Pampas had been broken by Cleo herself. We were contacted by The Reaper [Death] who indicated that the siege was actually broken by Walkyr. Walkyr is Ryklaw’s [vCrow] alt and most recently left EE, ostensibly to help Stomp break the Death siege on Cleo. Like HumandResources, he remains unaffiliated.

If anyone else has information on additional Walkyr involvement in the war, please contact the Times via personal message on it’s new Illyriad Forum account.
