“SHARK Week” Wraps Up With Capture of SIN’s Fiona’s Kul-Tar Stronghold

Screen Shot 2015-11-17 at 6.27.30 pmIn its most successful campaign of the war thus far, the past week, which could be dubbed “SHARK week,” has seen a string of strong offensive and defensive wins for the top-ranked alliance and its confederate VIC, concluded by the capturing of Fiona’s city of “Scared Sharkies!” in Kul-Tar. The capture, which was completed by SHARK member moses, is the third capture of the war for SHARK.

The Times noted that Fiona’s city was still being sieged as of 9:00 am server time today, indicating that Fiona actively extended the siege, in spite of being blockaded. The editorial team turned in to watch moses’ army storm the city and capture it.

Moses’ capture is the first completed siege operation for him, and the second successful siege in SIN’s dwindling Kul-Tar footprint in as many days, with SHARK having razed one of He-Man’s cities yesterday.

SHARK’s subsequent successes in Kul-Tar highlight the peculiarity of how the far-flung eastern deserts of Elgea have played host to the most active battleground for a war that is otherwise supposed to be waged for Newlands, with both SIN and SHARK-VIC choosing to open the theatre of battle elsewhere. For SHARK-VIC, choosing to engage He-Man and his compatriates in Kul-Tar was an early counter-attack strategy that followed a similar arc of the STOMPS/Claimers war, with Pico’s influence likely playing a role in that decision.

The “Newlands War” between TVM and DSD confederates versus SHARK also shied away against siege operations in the war’s namesake.

For SIN, their focus on wresting Newlands from SHARK control appears to have shifted from a strategic desire to engage SHARK to a grudge match to punish the late-declaring Invictus, as 6 of SIN’s successful 11 sieges and 8 of their 14 total siege attempts have been aimed at VIC, mostly in High Hills. SHARK has clearly capitalized on the relative pause in being targeted by SIN, using the time to regroup and coordinate both sieges and siege breaks for themselves and their VIC confederates.

Regardless of the modulations of the war, SHARK-VIC has improved their ranking on the War Score Card, which now shows them with 11 points to SIN’s 29. While the gap is still quite wide, SHARK-VIC had only 6 points a week ago.

What a difference a week can make in Illyriad.

FULL PRESS: SHARK-VIC Team Up for Coordinated Sieges on He-Man, Fiona in Kul-Tar

Screen Shot 2015-10-21 at 10.41.59 pmIn what appears to be a joint operation to raze He-Man in Kul-Tar along with SIN leadership member Fiona, SHARK and VIC have teamed up in what is clearly a highly coordinated joint siege operation. Both SHARK and VIC members set up siege camps in a close time formation, as revealed by information posted in the siege section of the Herald:

He-Man [SIN] Need Help? Call 1800-ABSA [963|-406] in Kul Tar SRT8 [SHARK] Sat 05 Dec 04:34
He-Man [SIN] Need Help? Call 1800-ABSA [965|-406] in Kul Tar .Mordred. [SHARK] Sat 05 Dec 04:35
He-Man [SIN] Need Help? Call 1800-ABSA [964|-406] in Kul Tar Mariabronne [VIC] Sat 05 Dec 04:39

In addition to targeting He-Man, Mariabronne also set up a siege against Fiona in her nearby city of Scared Sharkies!

Fiona [SIN] 7. Scared Sharkies! [962|-368] in Kul Tar Mariabronne [VIC] Fri 04 Dec 22:46

The fiercest fighting in the war thus far has taken place in the deserts of Kul-Tar, with SIN led by He-Man’s orc forces breaking three sieges and taking on SHARK-VIC forces in Elgea. But with SIN falling back from Kul-Tar and scores of troops likely spent, SHARK and VIC are now well-positioned to chalk up razes against their nemesis He-Man and Fiona as well.

HALO To Hold Military Exercises in Fellandire

The Saints [HALO], gateway alliance to the Hashashin [SIN], will be holding military exercises in Fellandire in the weeks to come. The exercises are designed to figure out who is more military minded in HALO, as well as give newer players an opportunity to learn how to make troops efficiently, which ones to use in a particular situation, and of course timing.

HALO regularly conducts intense military exercises along with SIN, attacking and defending targets in real situations with real consequences to cities, res, and armies. Past exercises have generated a lot of fun and morale in HALO, and pulls the alliance together as a team.

Our alliance is currently recruiting new players. It’s not too late to join HALO now in time to partake in the exercise. The only requirement for joining HALO is that members must settle or exodus their cities into Fellandire.

If anyone is interested in joining the HALO team, please send Fiona. an IGM. She would love to hear from you.

SIN Takes Down Ron Fay’s La Villa Strangiato; Claimers Rack Up 7th Raze

Screen Shot 2015-07-13 at 9.40.41 AMThe last chapter was written on Stomper Ron Fay’s city of La Villa Strangiato today, capping the seventh successful siege for the claimers in their ongoing war with the land claim-stomping alliance. It is now the third unanswered raze by the claimers since Stomps’ Bimoda captured Phoenixfire’s city of Harrenhal on July 7th.

Earlier in the day, the Times noted the disappearance of the city from Pawanallpa, with an army in its place. Reviewing Ron Fay’s profile revealed a drop in population and La Villa Strangiato missing from this town page.

This would be the first siege for Hashashin council member Fiona in the war.

Fay’s La Villa Strangiato was the first in a recent cavalcade of Stomp cities that have exodused their way down to Pawanallpa in a bid to bolster defense of Stomps players native to the area that have been hit hard throughout the war. Josh has also been aggressive in moving cities into the region, some of which are likely to become SIN targets. However, if Stomps can exodus enough cities into Pawanallpa, they could at some point be in a position to mount a counter-offensive — even if only a symbolic one.

SIN’s other active siege over at Inconspicuously Charming may prove to be the claimers’ eighth raze shortly as well. In a comment to the Times, Josh noted: “I have officially left the town to die,” indicating that he wasn’t planning on actively defending against the siege.

SIN Lays Siege To Ron Fay’s La Vila Strangiato

diplo1It appears that the claimers have finally drawn Ron Fay’s oft-moved city into a battle. This evening, server time, the Herald noted a new siege on Ron Fay’s city of La Vila Strangiato:

Player Being Sieged: Ron Fay [Stomp] City: La Villa Strangiato [704|-1836] in Pawanallpa Sieger: Fiona [SIN] Date/Time: Sat 18 Jul 20:00

This is the first siege that SIN has attempted on one of Stomps newly-exodused cities in Pawanallpa. Stomp appears to be positioning these news cities on flat plains, giving siegers no real terrain options. This single siege — which currently has no accompanying blockade — will be exposed to cavalry attacks from nearby Stomps cities.
