SHARK Razes TVM’s Mak in Elgea; Racks Up First Siege

Top-ranked Illyriad alliance Dark Shade [SHARK] registered its first raze in the Newlands war, making quick work of a siege on TVM’s Mak in the northern Elgean region of Ragallon.

The siege, which posted in the Herald on September September 29th, was initiated by RuneMage, and later joined by a secondary siege army. Due to the remote placement of the city, the siege was likely uncontested by DSD forces in the north, who were out of range of the city.

Thus far, both successful sieges in the Newlands war have taken place in far-flung areas of the map, far removed from the epicenter of the war on the Newlands peninsula. Only one battle has taken place there — TVM’s siege of BayNights’ city of Campagnolo — however, it was a major operation for both sides that SHARK eventually won by breaking the siege.

The Newlands War Score Card now shows that SHARK has razed 1 city and broken 3 sieges. The DSD forces have managed 1 successful raze amid 4 attempts.

SHARK Looks To Counter RE Razing With Siege in Northern Elgea

A new siege has posted in the Herald as part of the ongoing war between DSD and SHARK over the control of the Newlands. After the successful sieging of a SHARK city in Aindara yesterday, and indications that BayNights’ Newlands city of Campagnolo is beginning to buckle under heavy bombardment, SHARK is looking for opportunistic targets of its own in Elgea.

The new siege is located in Ragallon, targeting a TVM in a northern Elgean region not far from the alliance’s original heartland:

RuneMage has situated his siege on a small mountain — a commanding position for a siege, particularly if it is defended by bow or spear units. The siege is accompanied by a blockade on plains, which will be more susceptible to cavalry breaks.

The city of Revenge’s Guile is the only TVM city in the region, and is completely isolated. Combined with poor defensive terrain, RuneMage is in a dominant position to earn SHARK an easy siege victory and answer DSD’s early victories in the Broken Lands.

Newlands Still Not on the War Map as DSD’s TVM Sieges Ron Fay in Pawanallpa

The southern DSD forces appear to be looking to gain early momentum in the Newlands War, with land claimers Trivium [TVM] launching what is now the third siege in the war against Ron Fay’s city of AFTK. Like the other current DSD sieges, this target is also not located in the Newlands, which is the piece of land that the war is essentially being fought over. The Herald announced the siege today:

The dry, barren deserts of Pawanallpa are favored by military players for their military sovereignty bonuses and vast plains — terrain that is ideal for breaking sieges with cavalry. Pawanallpa is also markedly closer to the Elgean continent to other current DSD sieges, such as in Shardlands and Aindara. Both TVM’s siege and blockade are located on plains.

Fay’s city of AFTK is at a distance from Newlands and may not be close enough for BL SHARK forces to break the siege easily. However, its close proximity to Elgea could allow for light cav to hit the siege from Elgea.
