“Let My BayNights Go!” Moses Leads Unbow To Stunning Siege Victory Against SIN

Unbow’s Moses reportedly levied two massive hits to break a major siege on Unbow co-leader BayNight’s city of Cyme (re-named “A SINsational Siege” for the battle), SIN commenters noted in a previous Illyriad Times article.

Though Unbow officials have not yet shared battle reports, the Times is confirming the siege breaks based on the fact that SIN themselves are admitting to it in comments. “Today we lost our first one on baynights,” said He-Man first on the battle. Jejune added, “superb two hits [on] me and Ron’s siege camps on Bay’s city. Moses (who is probably a sat) hit with a 70K stal army, and the other siege camp (my camp) got sniped with elites and followed by a few hit big hits. Last one was 20K stals, also from Moses (diff. town).”

For Unbow, it is the second siege break in a row on BayNights towns, with the remnants of the alliance showing gusto in breaking sieges on one of their co-leaders, even in the midst of what appears to be ongoing yet tense negotiations to end the war.

Both siege breaks add an additional two points to the War Score Card for NW2.

Ron Fay Picks Up First Raze Under SIN Banner With Odo Alt; SIN Purportedly Using Siege Trains

SIN has picked up its 26th successful siege under the command of Odoacer, Ron Fay’s alt. It is the first siege accredited to Fay since moving to SIN in late March. SIN officials provided proof of the raze:

Shiskabobo razed!

Sent By: System
Received By: Odoacer [SIN]
Date: 05 Apr 2016 23:14
Shiskabobo, belonging to Vitruvius which was located at 94|-2264 has been razed by Odoacer.

While early eyewitness reports of the siege battle appeared to be light, SIN claims that there was heavy fighting on the remnants of the siege camp after the raze was completed, indicating that Unbow didn’t have ample siege breaking troops within close range of the siege, requiring forces from farther away to make the trek. Considering that the Herald reported the start of the siege at 5:00 am server time on April 5th, the operation was a quick one and may have involved siege trains to accelerate the process.

SIN also indicated in an earlier message to the Times that their recent siege operations have included siege trains and direct catapult attacks on Unbow cities that have taken their toll, pointing out “steep drops in population of Stephen Stormcrow.” Another SIN contact said that Stormcrow lost “almost 30K pop in two weeks” as a result of the attacks, which appeared to corroborate with the players’ growth chart.

SIN claims that Pehu was a recent target as well, losing more than 6,000 population:

As for an overall cliff in population drop from purported siege trains, SIN claims that in two weeks it has reduced Unbow by 61,550 in attacks alone, but they have not come without cost, and that Unbow heavily fortified several cities on recent operations, successfully knocking out hundreds of catapults and staving off population decline.

Ron Fay Initiates New Siege Against Unbow in Newlands

Screen Shot 2015-07-21 at 3.32.37 PMRon Fay is hosting his first siege since joining the ranks of SIN, opening up a new operation in southern Newlands against Unbow using his Odoacer alt account. The Herald reported the landing of the siege this morning:

Vitruvius [Unbow] Shiskabobo [94|-2263] in Newlands Odoacer [SIN] Tue 05 Apr 05:00

The city of Shiskabobo is situated on relatively defensible terrain, with only one small hill aside a nearby lake. SIN has set up its siege on this hill, accompanied by several blockades.

Previous reports have indicated that Unbow was willing to exodus siege targets away from oncoming SIN sieges if they had adjacent small hills, but Unbow appears to be willing to contest this siege. At the time of this writing, the Times has already seen the siege camp possibly being hit by one army, with another possible army inbound — the trajectory suggests cav breaking launches from Unbow and not reinforcements by SIN.

SIN Busts Siege on Odo For 18th Consecutive Siege Break; Unbow Still Siegeless

Screen Shot 2015-10-23 at 9.45.10 amSIN has finished off the second of two sieges launched by Unbow at Ron Fay and his alt account Odoacer in a revenge op, after Fay joined ranks with his former foes. Earlier in the day, SIN officials provided of the first siege break on Ron fay’s cities. Now, confirmation has come in showing a decisive break on the other siege op as well:

DML is credited with the siege break, though SIN credits a team-wide effort in breaking what it describes as two large sieges on Fay.

SIN officials also pointed out that this siege break is the 18th consecutive siege break against its opponents since the last time it lost a siege, which razed He-Man’s city of Pyrrhic Victory on December 11, 2015. The sieger on that operation was SHARK’s moses — at preset, Unbow as an alliance has yet to successfully raze or capture a SIN city, and the Unbow/SHARK/VIC confederacy has not destroyed a SIN city in the year 2016 as of yet.

Conversely, SIN has destroyed 11 of its opponents’ cities since January 1st, 7 of which were Unbow cities.

SIN Establishes New Siege on Unbow in Newlands; CrAp Bears Down Again on Rodinia

Screen Shot 2015-10-21 at 10.41.59 pmEarly morning Sunday, server time, saw the landing of two new siege operations against Unbowed in the Newlands, with SIN initiating a new siege against Fyzz’s 8 Colosseum and Ron’s Fay once again engaging Darth Darius’ city of Rodinia after his alliance’s failed siege yesterday.

The Herald reported a single-square siege on Fyzz’s city, which is located in the northeastern corner of the Newlands peninsula:

Fyzz [Unbow] 8 Colosseum [307|-2051] in Newlands Tink XX [SIN] Sun 20 Mar 06:59

With the exception of the loch that the siege army is using for its camp, due to its modifier as a small hill, the rest of the city is completely surrounded by plains. At present, there are no blockades on the city, and the Times witnessed firsthand several units hitting the siege camp at the time of this writing, suggesting that the siege will be a contentious one.

Meanwhile, on the other side of Newlands, Ron Fay’s CrAp alliance set down a reprise of its siege efforts on the city of Rodinia:

Darth Darius [Unbow] Rodinia [-14|-2233] in Newlands Odoacer [CrAp] Sun 20 Mar 02:35
Darth Darius [Unbow] Rodinia [-12|-2232] in Newlands Odoacer [CrAp] Sun 20 Mar 03:35
Darth Darius [Unbow] Rodinia [-13|-2231] in Newlands Krasno Granitsky [CrAp] Sun 20 Mar 05:21
Darth Darius [Unbow] Rodinia [-12|-2233] in Newlands Krasno Granitsky [CrAp] Sun 20 Mar 10:08

The city itself, which originally hovered around 18,000 in population at the start of CrAp’s first siege, is now only at 7,200 at the time of this writing. While the end of the first siege led to a population drop of about 5,000, it appears that Darth may have purposely dropped population in order to make reducing the city to raze population more difficult, since lower-level buildings lose less population as they are de-leveled by siege volleys.

CrApStorm: Ron Sieges Unbow Again in Gutty Plains Siege

Screen Shot 2015-07-13 at 9.40.41 AMIt has been 30 days to the day that Ron Fay’s CrAp alliance decided to engage Unbow/SHARK/VIC and siege Mordred’s city of Tyrus, eventually falling to Fay alt Odoacer’s siege army. Now, once again CrAp is engaging a new siege, hitting Unbow member Darth Darius’ city of Rodinia in western Newlands. The Herald is reporting the multiple siege camps involved in the operation:

Darth Darius [Unbow] Rodinia [-13|-2231] in Newlands Odoacer [CrAp] Sat 19 Mar 08:05
Darth Darius [Unbow] Rodinia [-14|-2233] in Newlands Odoacer [CrAp] Sat 19 Mar 05:20
Darth Darius [Unbow] Rodinia [-12|-2231] in Newlands Ron Fay [CrAp] Sat 19 Mar 04:25

Ron is attempting yet another plains siege, which often involve multiple siege camps. The strategy is to try and bring the city down quicker and spread out the siege camp targets, since cavalry does so well in striking armies encamped on plains. Ron also has a blockade in place.

Western Newlands was an early stronghold for SHARK, but the region has been hit hard by the war, which most of the major battles taking place there between SHARK/Unbow forces and SIN players who were once a part of thre TVM alliance who occupy western Newlands and Oarnamly. Now, with Ron entering the fray, his large military presence is likely putting more strain on Unbow forces in the region.

CrAp Razes SHARK City in Newlands in Opening Round of Widening Conflict

Screen Shot 2015-11-26 at 1.40.16 pmRon Fay’s CrAp alliance has razed its first city in its fresh war with SHARK and Unbow, the Times has learned. Fay provided proof of the razing, which was led by his orc alt Odoacer:

Tyrus razed!

Sent By: System
Received By: Odoacer [CrAp]
Date: 28 Feb 2016 12:47
Tyrus, belonging to .Mordred. which was located at -36|-2136 has been razed by Odoacer.

All told, CrAp sprung a 4-camp siege on the city of Tyrus, along with an accompanying blockade. It is unknown how much resistance the siege camps received, however, the city itself crumbled quickly after bombardment. The original siege touched down yesterday at 10:34 — however, the raze being completed at 12:47 suggests that perhaps this first siege camp was defeated and an accompanying camp was responsible for the raze.

Fay indicated to the Times that for now, this is a “separate war” from that of the SIN/Unbow-SHARK-VIC war that is commonly referred to as NWII. At present, CrAp shares no diplomatic relations with SIN.

SHOCK: CrAp/Unbow Declare War as Odo Siege Touches down on SHARK Newlands City

Screen Shot 2015-11-05 at 11.35.03 pmA major development today in the Second Newlands War, as former Stomper and SHARK warrior Ron Fay declared war on Unbow, received a reply declaration from them, and subsequently laid down a siege on Mordred’s city of Tyrus an hour later. CrAp first declared early in the morning:

War Dark Shade [SHARK] Chromium Aphid [CrAp] 27 Feb 2016 05:10

The declaration was reciprocated later by Unbow. News of the war declaration flashed across GC in the morning, server time:

[09:34]<System> ** News flash: The Unbowed [Unbow] declares war on Chromium Aphid [CrAp] Hostilities may begin immediately…

An hour later, a CrAp siege touched down on the city of Tyrus, as reported by the Herald’s siege section:

.Mordred. [SHARK] Tyrus [-36|-2135] in Newlands Odoacer [CrAp] Sat 27 Feb 10:34

Little is known about the situation at present. However, Ron’s position in the war and alignment may have modulated over the past three months, with this new turn in the war coming almost three months to the day that he left SHARK and made peace with SIN. By the 13th of December, Fay had set up a land claim in the Newlands — a clear mark of defiance after fighting in the anti-land claim alliance Stomp and vehement anti-claimers SHARK. While there was never a formal response from SHARK on the matter, then-SHARK member Agalloch commented below the announcement of the CrAp claim indignantly, saying, “thats a dick move Ron!”

Ron also followed up with an aggressive move to claim and destroy several of ex-Stomper and SHARK member Pico’s cities after he abandoned his accounts, also perhaps in defiance and as a means of breaking from that side of the war.

The CrAp land claim was particularly striking in that it opened up the possibility of any neutral military operations in the zone. Whether or not this current siege, which is squarely in the CrAp claim, is part of that policy, is not yet known. It is also not known to what degree CrAp is now coordinating with SIN. At present, there are no formal diplomatic ties between the two alliances.

As for the siege itself, Fay has chosen a difficult target in that it is set up completely on plains. However, it also appears that he is establishing a multi-siege approach in hopes of bringing down the city quickly.

The Times will update this fast-breaking story as it develops — stay tuned.

SHARK Players Mark Sinister Star Wipe-out in GC; Pico “Targeting All Sin’s Alts;” Ron Fay Departs

Screen Shot 2015-11-26 at 1.40.16 pmKey metagame activity took place in the contentious war between SIN and SHARK-VIC yesterday, with tempers flaring in GC over the Sinister Star/Venita controversy. SIN has completed its operation against the Sinister Star account — the account’s cities have all been razed and the player relocated to the so-called “newbie ring,” according to the now-abandoned account’s profile. An anonymous tipster who caught some of the action in GC as SHARK went public in acknowledging the loss of fellow member Venita’s once-secret alt, and implicating SIN in what the top-ranked alliance claims was an injustice in decimating her account. It didn’t take long for SIN members to challenge that claim in GC, sparking a confrontation:

RUMOR: SHARK, TVM Edging Closer To War in Newlands

Screen Shot 2015-09-13 at 9.26.37 pm
This map of Newlands shows SHARK in blue, SHRKr in green, and TVM in red.

After weeks of relative inactivity in the Illyriad metagame, fresh tips have been sent to the Times suggesting that war on the Newlands peninsula in the Broken Lands between Dark Shade [SHARK] and Trivium [TVM] might be imminent.

The rumors began last week with unnamed sources claiming that a spate of recent SHARK and Darker Shade [SHRKr] settlements in TVM’s land claim had sparked political unrest between the alliances. In one instance, it is alleged that TVM Triumvir Lorcan had challenged SHRKr account and Ron Fay alt Odoacer, who now appears to have more than one of the cities interloping on TVM’s claim, to a duel, with a Lorcan victory requiring that Odoacer would need to move his assets out of the TVM claim.

However, a message to the Times noted that “Lorcan and Odoacer were involved in a consensual PvP which SHARK apparently unilaterally decided to end.” When the Times pressed for additional info, the tipster added that, “Lorcan left TVM for a PvP and it looks like when a siege landed on Odoacer’s city, SHARK decided Odoacer couldn’t defend himself. I heard that the siege was to be limited but I don’t have any proof of that.”

The Times has not been able to confirm the veracity of the tipster’s characterization of those events, however, after surveying Newlands to confirm whether Odoacer was indeed infringing on the TVM claim boundaries, our editorial staff detected several other SHARK cities in the TVM claim belonging to high-level players such as Baynights, King A, and Ron Fay himself.

King A, considered to be one of the more formidable military accounts in SHARK, now has six cities in Newlands, with his city of Mount Ida squarely in the TVM claim. SHARK leader Baynights’ city of Campagnolo also appears to be in the claim, as is Stomp/Claimers war hero Ron Fay’s cities of Blah Blah Blah-Blah Blah, Lerxstwood, Prattsky Kerml, and Whywhyzee. All in all, SHARK appears to have already positioned some of its most talented, well-equipped military accounts in a position to either defend their foothold in Newlands and even counterstrike an aggressive TVM, who for their part appear to have been either oblivious or ambivalent to what must have been weeks if not months of SHARK build-up in their sprawling land claim.

According to TVM’s land claim policy in the forums, the boundaries for its restrictive “zone 1” includes the following: “New Lands: Beginning latitude -2100 in the north, to longitude 63 in the east, to latitude -2220 in the south, to the west coast.”

However, in spite of the new crop of SHARK/SHRKr cities in the TVM land claim, it still remains to be seen if the rumored hostilities are a direct result of this infringement or other political issues between the two alliances. It has been alleged that tensions flared between both alliances during the Stomp/Claimers war, but stopped short of a full escalation. It remains to be seen how far this new conflict will go, but early indications point to the potential for a fresh war in Newlands.
