SIN Continues Siege Operations on Unbow Amid Peace Talks

Siege and blockade camps around the city of Half Dome

In spite of talk of peace negotiations and a recent double siege loss, SIN is continuing to put pressure on Unbow in Newlands, targeting co-leader Spektor in a siege operation that looks similar to the one recently broken on BayNights’ city of Cyme.

The Herald’s siege section is reporting the two siege camps, which are being run by SIN’s Plathus:

Spektor [Unbow] Half Dome [204|-1958] in Newlands Plathus [SIN] Sat 30 Apr 06:52
Spektor [Unbow] Half Dome [204|-1960] in Newlands Plathus [SIN] Sat 30 Apr 06:52

SIN has blockaded the city on almost every square, with two siege camps on the north and south. All of the siege and blockade squares are plains.

Like other Unbow co-leaders Halcyon and BayNights, Spektor has been specifically target over the last recent SIN incursions into Newlands. Unbow will look to break this siege as well and pick up three strong siege breaks in a row.

SIN Completes Successful Plains Raze of Unbow’s Spektor in Southern Newlands

Screen Shot 2015-10-14 at 9.31.30 amSIN has completed its most recent siege of Unbow in southern Newlands, razing Spektor’s city of Caenorhabditis using two siege camps places on plains. SIN officials shared the confirmation of the raze to the Times earlier:

Original Message:
Caenorhabditis, belonging to Spektor which was located at -13|-2297 has been razed by Plathus.

The raze marks the 26th successful siege for SIN, which matches the same number of siege breaks the Fellandire alliance has racked up in its now 5-month war. For Plathus, it is his fifth successful siege of the war, tieing other SIN siege stalwarts such as OleBlacklord and Tink XX.

SIN officials noted large siege breaking attempts by Unbow, purportedly sending multiple large cavalry armies to break the sieges.

SIN Attempts Daring Plains Siege on Unbow in Southern Newlands

Screen Shot 2015-11-17 at 6.27.30 pmSIN has engaged a new siege operation against an active Unbow player on the southern tip of Newlands, placing siege weapons on plains for the first time since the very start of the war. The Herald’s siege section listed the dual siege camps on Spektor’s city:

Spektor [Unbow] Caenorhabditis [-12|-2297] in Newlands Salgerluk [SIN] Sun 10 Apr 06:00
Spektor [Unbow] Caenorhabditis [-14|-2297] in Newlands Plathus [SIN] Sun 10 Apr 06:02

Currently, the sieges are placed on the east and south plains neighboring the city. A blockade is likely to set up on the southern square at some point.

SIN has shied away from sieging on plains, particularly in the Newlands. A quick look at their previous sieges shows that they have never attempted a plains siege in Newlands. The only siege that involved plains was on ex-SHARK member Lost A, whose city of “oh crap” was captured by OleBlacklord on November 8, 2015. While that siege operation for SIN involved plains sieges, however, there was also a large hill to the south of the city, and the city itself was isolated from the rest of the SHARK cluster in Newlands.

For SIN, sieging in southern Newlands on plains will be daunting, since players such as Spektor, Halcyon, and Baynights all have cities within close range who can leverage their cavalry to obtain optimal ratios on hits to the siege camps.

SIN Gets Another Big Raze Against Unbow in Western Newlands

Screen Shot 2016-01-10 at 3.25.59 pmSIN has completed another successful siege in western Newlands, razing a city from Unbow. SIN officials confirmed the successful sacking of Dark Justice’s Justice Hall, which came under siege two days ago. The siege, which was established in a small building northeast of the city, has been followed by some of the Times’ readership, including veteran commenter  Zebraphile, who provided a citizens report of the faltering and fall of the city in earlier comments:

SIN has now completed 22 successful sieges against SHARK, VIC, and Unbow combined, almost matching its 23 siege breaks against the same confederacy. For Plathus, it is now his fourth raze, having completed 3 of the last 5 SIN razes (OleBlacklord has the other two).

Little is known for sure about Unbow resistance for this siege, however, SIN officials noted that there was a high volume of attacks, but that after a few initial hits that were large in number, the majority of hits were elites. This claim, however, was not confirmed.

Unbow Under Siege Again in Western Newlands as Dark Justice Targeted

Screen Shot 2015-07-10 at 7.27.01 PMSIN has once again leveraged its forces in the western part of Newlands to target an Unbow city, with Plathus sieging Dark Justice’s city of Justice Hall. The Herald is reporting the details of the siege:

Dark Justice [Unbow] Justice Hall [21|-2298] in Newlands Plathus [SIN] Fri 11 Mar 18:00

The siege camp itself is established inside a crooked house to the northeast of the city, offering the protection of a building terrain. Currently there is a blockade on the plains to the east of the city, but other blockades have been reported as well, which now appear to have been destroyed.

The Times and other eyewitnesses are characterizing the battle thus far as moderately active, with several attack units seen hitting the siege camp.

Most recently, SIN completed what appeared to be an uncontested raze of Coltman’s [VIC] city of Orchard Mills, after another SIN siege was avoided by SHARK leader Mordred dodging via exodus. SIN will look to pick up its second raze in as many days as the military alliance appears to once again be ratcheting up attacks into Newlands.

SIN Razes Western Newlands Unbow City After Protracted Siege

Screen Shot 2015-10-23 at 9.45.10 amSIN has completed its siege against an Unbow city in the western portion on the Newlands after a protracted siege that lasted more than two days. SIN officials provided proof of the successful siege against Winnie the Pooh’s city of Kanga’s Pouch:

Kanga’s Pouch, belonging to Winnie the Pooh which was located at -10|-2263 has been razed by Plathus.

For Plathus, it is his third raze of the war, and SIN’s 20th successful siege.

By all accounts, the campaign was a long, hard slog for SIN, who had to volley through broken blockades and prestige building. An early report in the comments section noted that “There were at first five blockades on Kanga, but these were broken some time during the server night,” to which SIN’s Ten Kulch responded, “Those blockades were tiny cavalry blockades, intended to temporarily prevent exodus during a complex maneuver.”

The complex maneuver likely involved placing the siege in the southern building of the city. As there were no other optimal squares for a large blockade, SIN appears to have sent multiple small blockades that were constantly knocked down and re-established.

Newlands, High Hills Alight in New SIN Sieges on Unbow Cities

Screen Shot 2015-10-21 at 10.41.59 pmSIN has continued its steady siege strike into the Newlands and surrounding regions with two new sieges in Unbow territory. The two sieges touched down within an hour of one another, in two different regions of the map. The Herald later posted the details in its siege section:

Winnie the Pooh [Unbow]

Kanga’s Pouch

[-10|-2264] in Newlands

Plathus [SIN]

Wed 24 Feb 20:00

Stephen Stormcrow [Unbow]

II. Storm Front

[480|-2067] in High Hills

Goldy1 [SIN]

Wed 24 Feb 21:00

Plathus’ siege on the city of Kanga’s Pouch is positioned in a building to the south of the city. While there is currently no blockade on the city and Winnie the Pooh will be free to prestige in resources to pres build through the volleys, breaking the SIN siege will be daunting for Unbow and will depend heavily on their remaining infantry in the region, which are optimal for attacking buildings.

The siege in High Hills involving Stephen Stormcrow’s city already appears more contentious, thanks to the more favorable terrain for the siege. Placed on only a small hill, the neutral terrain still favors cavalry, who can capitalize on their attacking power. The blockade is currently on plains, making it even more exposed to cav hits.

Both siege sites are in the vicinity of previous battles. Kanga’s Pouch is being fought just squares away from what was once the site of Gondor, a Darth Darius city that was razed by SIN on February 7, 2016. Storm Front is in close range of DiabolicallyDLicious’ city of 6 Little Indians, which Unbow forced a recall of OleBlacklord’s siege on February 18, 2016.

It remains to be seen how these previous battles may impact troop counts in the region as Unbow seeks to defend its burgeoning Newlands and High Hills territories.

SIN Takes Down Unbow City in Coanhara in Less Than 24 Hours

Screen Shot 2015-11-07 at 1.02.16 pmSIN’s far-flung siege on an Unbow city in Coanhara has resulted in a sub-24-hour raze. The siege against Rudyjr by Plathus, which the Times reported on yesterday, arrived on site at 17:59. Documents provided to the Times from SIN officials reveal that PLathus stormed and razed the city at 16:15 today:

In revealing comments under the previous article, SIN Field Commander Ten Kulch offered detailed insights into the onset of the siege operation:

Highly interesting activity on this one. The city was locked down by a long feint (nice job, RudyJr!). When we launched the siege, it was a legendary city of about 27000 population. During the approach, the city’s population was cut -21000 down to 6000, and all the sov was canceled.

Scouts have shown that the city is empty, with two commanders returning from the feint, and no troops. Most likely Rudy attempted to disband the army by depleting all gold and setting taxes to 0. That would also explain the sov collapse. SIN discovered that technique doesn’t work during an early siege against one of our newer players, who accidentally pinned his city while attempting to dodge.

We are very excited to see if Rudy tries to dig his way out of this siege with prestige building. Since the city was 27000 when we launched, I think the team is still pumped up about a legendary fortress battle, even though RudyJr has demolished his own population by -21000 already.

However, prior to bombardment of the city beginning, Kulch reported that the city was in the process of being deleveled, ostensibly to make reducing the population through catapult volleys more difficult, since lover-levels reduce in population more slowly:

I should add that we later acquired a spy report. The big population buildings have all been lowered from 20 to 14-15. I assumed this was a preparation to prestige build up from the siege. That would be an exciting battle. But someone pointed out that the farms were also lowered to 12.

After racking our collective brains, the best theories were: 1. they were never built up from exodus (which seems far fetched for a 27000 population city), 2. they blew up when the taxes went to zero and the empty treasury killed the farm sov, which indiscriminately destroyed the buildings in reverse order, 3. it is deliberate damage to scuttle the city.

If anyone has another illuminating theory, I am all ears.

A most curious siege, and potentially either a very exciting one or a very dull one.

Times eyewitnesses believe that the latter was true for this siege, as our editorial staff did not note a single army hit either the siege or blockade. The light resistance is similar to what was reported on SiN’s other successful raze on the city of A3 Aerie yesterday.

For Plathus, this is is second successful siege — the first coming against Longfeather’s city of Head Feather on February 6, 2016. For SIN, it is their 19th successful siege.

Third SIN Siege in New Wave Targets Unbow City in Coanhara

Screen Shot 2015-10-17 at 12.57.53 pmSIN is reaching back behind its own lines in a new sieges against Unbow in Coanhara.Rudyjr’s city of R09 Augusta — an isolated city in forested and hilly terrain — appears to be being targeted by SIN’s enclave in Oarnamly and Newlands. The Herald is reporting the details in its siege section:

Rudyjr [Unbow] R09 Augusta [-484|-2223] in Coanhara Plathus [SIN] Wed 17 Feb 17:59

For Plathus, this is his second siege operation for SIN.

The new siege swings the arc of recent siege activities in the opposite direction of SIN’s two current sieges on Unbow, which are still underway in the High Hills, surrounded by what used to be VIC’s outpost cluster for the BL. While that region is still stacked with what appear to militarized Unbow accounts, it remains to be seen to what degree the alliance will be able to defend Rudyjr in Coanhara.

SIN Surpasses 50th War Score Point, Launches Second Siege on Unbow’s Darth Darius

Screen Shot 2015-10-14 at 9.31.30 amSIN has surpassed the 50th point in the War Score Card scoring of the Newlands War II, with SIN’s Plathus getting the raze in what appears to have been a lightly contested battle. SIN officials provided proof of the raze:

Subject: FW: Victorious battle against longfeather’s forces at Head Feather by Plathus’s forces from IronHammer

Original Message:
Attackers arrive, unopposed, at this location.

Cavalry comes into its own when able to strike hostile forces at will, and from unexpected directions – and nowhere is this more feasible than on open plains. Lightly armoured spear units, however, prefer terrain where there’s some cover available.

Fighting defensively on open plains, cavalry draws strength from the ability to form and reform their lines of engagement depending on the direction of battle, and it is here where cavalry excels.

Attackers: Unit: Quantity: Casualties: Survivors:
Commander: Ironglue Stalwart 1 Damaged for 0, 300 health remains.
Troops: Stalwarts 0
Troops: Battery-towers 0
Troops: Ballistas 0

The raze is Plathus’ first siege contribution to SIN, and SIN’s 16th successful siege. The SHARK-VIC-Unbow confederacy has 5.

Just as the Head Feather siege was beginning to grind down the city, a secondary siege initiated just to the west of the first siege location, with SIN hitting Unbow’s Darth Darius:

Darth Darius [Unbow] Gondor [-19|-2261] in Newlands Tink XX [SIN] Sat 06 Feb 10:00

That siege features a blockade on a small hill and siege in a building. While the terrain favors a solid siege defense for SIN, the city of Gondor is in close proximity to SHARK and Unbow cities, giving them an opportunity to pepper the sieges with close-range hits.

At present, there has only been a few units seen hitting the camps.
