TUF Notches First Raze, Looks For Soft Target in Elgea; ajqtrz Stuns Siege on Doralia 2, But YARR Prevails

Similar to its still-ongoing war with Dlords, military alliance TUF continues to get off to a good start in its war with YARR, notching an opportunistic raze in Calumnex against YARR while making a strong showing in Almenly, shrugging off one siege operation on ajqtrz and stunning another that subsequently fell.

TUF officials confirmed the razing of YARR player Tang’s city of Popayan, which was originally located at 514|-2876 in the heart of the uncanny, glassy Calumnex terrain. TUF’s kaven picks up the official raze. TUF noted that Tang dropped from YARR’s roster after the siege landed, “probably because they realised they couldn’t defend it.”

YARR leader Solanar sought to frame the decision to drop Tang and capitulate Popayan as strategic, saying in comments on the Times that he “[k]icked Twang,” going on to note: “His sitter ran out the same day the siege hit, so not able to assist in any way. We did hit the sieges a bit though. Terrible ratios on our part. Cheers Tuf for hitting the weak link.”

In their note to the Times, TUF officials corroborated the prospective attempts to break the Twang siege: “There was two 10k t2 cavalry hits that attempted to break separate sieges but failed. These came from solanar and ranalos.” Continue reading

FIRST BLOOD: TUF Challenges YARR in Calumnex For First Siege

Screen Shot 2015-10-02 at 9.13.12 amIn its fresh war with YARR, TUF has struck first, laying down a siege on a YARR player located in Calumnex. The Herald’s siege section reported the landing of the siege camp, which happened late last night, server time:

Twang [YARR!] Popayan [513|-2875] in Calumnex kaven [TUF] Fri 06 May 01:58

TUF and kaven are being opportunistic with this siege, since kaven’s cities are located in Jurgor — not too far from Twang’s city of Popayan — and they can capitalize on the relative isolation that Calumnex offers, given its complex, unforgiving terrain.

The city of Popayan is poorly placed — itself being positioned on plains, surrounded by small mountains. The glassy mountain terrain, however, has been reported as behaving slightly different in terms of terrain modifiers to regular mountainous territory.

YARR will be hard-pressed to defend the city of Popayan, which could likely end in an easy raze for TUF, getting them ahead early in war in terms of siege victories. This was a similar approach that they took in the outset of their still-ongoing war with Dlords.

Meanwhile, debate and invective has intensified across the server about the YARR/TUF war, particularly over the underlying issues that led to the war declaration and whether YARR’s decision to declare war on TUF while the embattled alliance is still fighting Dlords was indeed a just war declaration.

At present, both yARR and Dlords still remain non-confederated and both vehemently deny any collusion or coordination. That being said, TUF is put in the precarious position of fighting two alliances who have preemptively declared war on them.
