EXCLUSIVE – Beleg on Leaked TUF AC Transcript: “We took their words seriously”

A revealing policy discussion in TUF AC appears to have been the impetus for Dlords’ pre-emptive war declaration, with Dlords alliance leader Belegar Ironhammer highlighting the BL warrior alliance’s plans to engage the Elgean dwarves as casus belli for their move.

The TUF AC transcript was sent to the Times by Beleg himself, who received it from an unrevealed source. The opening of the dialogue includes an effort to track down diplo attacks attributed to Ironhammer himself. The Times cannot independently confirm the authenticity of the transcript:

In response to this dialogue, Ironhammer justified Dlords’ war declaration of TUF, citing both the plans to overtake Dlords’ silversteel mines as well as general plans to engage them in the future: “We took their words seriously. Add this information with their attacks on our sieges in BL made a TUF war seem all the more likely. Thus, we resolved to fight TUF at a battlefield of our choosing before they could attack our people.”

The Times reached out to TUF for a response to the leaked AC document. The official statement, which was purportedly written by ajqtrz2 (who is now heading TUF’s PR efforts), reads as follows:

“While the statements in the chat do seem to imply a plan of sorts to do damage to Dlords standings in Elgea, it is just as obvious that they were of the ‘some day I wish and maybe someday I will’ variety. Thus, Dlords has no real quarrel with us. That the communication was in AC is only proof that it was a joke as our senior members never discuss actual plans in AC, for the very reason that leaks do often occur.  Belegar should have understood this as we quite certain he knows such policies are normal in a well run alliance.

He knows his attacks are completely unjustified.”

Dwarven Lords Declare War on TUF; Silversteel Mines at Center of Dispute

A new war has erupted between two major Illyriad alliances, pitting the predominantly Elgean Dwarven Lords [Dlord] against Agalloch’s Unfettered [TUF]. The war, which was sparked by a Dlords declaration, appears to center on disputed silversteel mines.

In a statement to the Times, Dlords leader Belegar Ironhammer did not mince words, saying, “This is a preemptive strike to protect our mines from future attacks planned by TUF and in retaliation for TUF attacks on Dlord sieges in the Broken Lands on non-TUF players.”

The Times also received an official statement from TUF concerning the war:

This war has been expected since Dlords has been diploing members of TUF for about months without any aggressive moves by TUF. The only thing done was an assisted siege break of a Dlords siege several weeks ago, as we feel it isn’t right for a player to be punished in game for a certain view on the forums.

We hope this war is enjoyable, best of luck to Dlords.

Dlords have worked quickly to engage TUF, setting up a siege right at the onset of the war on Agalloch’s alt Elfs Bane. The city of “..Grew a Pair?” was swarmed on by the Dlords and sieged by Belegar Ironhammer, who later confirmed to the Times that the city had indeed been razed:

This war has the earmarks of being a serious, potentially protracted conflict. Should siege operations continue, the Times will publish a War Score Card for the war and track sieges and siege breaks.

T-SC Attacks, Claims Two Silversteel Mines in Calumnex From SHARK

So far in the Newlands War, the stakes have been high, with 16 total sieges — 5 of which were initiated just today. However, T-SC has mounted two unique assaults on SHARK assets in the Broken Lands, scoring victories over the top-ranked alliance’s Silversteel assets in Calumnex.

T-SC officials sent the Times two combat reports that confirm that the alliance attacked and defeated occupying forces on two silversteel mines near The Tower (home to the aggressive Omen faction) in the heart of Calumnex.
